By now, you're probably wondering "Who are you and why are you doing this?"
I'm Neal Morgan. I am your neighbor at the East end of the street, in the cul-de-sac. I am a self employed computer consultant.
My small business has several employees and lots of servers in an enterprise data center. So, the short answer is: this is an easy way for me
to contribute to the neighborhood.
Akiko, my wife, and I have lived here for 6 years. We've done OK with meeting our immediate neighbors, and we've spoken with some of the
rest of you at the occasional block party, or on Halloween when we ring your doorbell. However, as we've had two kids and watched them grow
to the point they now like to play on the street, I realize there are a lot of things about our neighborhood I don't know. For example:
- Who's a good baby sitter nearby?
- What's the easiest way to tell neighbor X: "Let me know if the kids playing next to your house is bothersome."?
- What's the easiest way to let everyone know neighbor Y is sick and could use some help?
All of this led me to the conclusion I should put together some web/email resources for all of us. It's right up my alley, and
it doesn't cost me anything except time.
